MPTC President Mostly Pleased With Governors Budget Proposals For Tech Colleges

Moraine Park Technical College President Bonnie Baerwald says for the most part she is pleased with the Governor’s funding proposal for technical colleges in the state budget. She says the one element she is concerned about is a two year tuition freeze for the technical college system. She believes Moraine Park is already offering affordable tuition to its students. She says their credits are about $130 a credit, less than half of most colleges and four times less than some of the private schools. She says Moraine Park invests a lot of money in state-of-the-art technology. She says they need that equipment and technology in their classrooms because that is what people are training for. Baerwald says there is still a lot of vetting that needs to be done in the State Senate and Assembly before the state budge is approved.
