MPTC Project Benefits FDL Humane Society

Seven women participating in Moraine Park Technical College’s Project Impact recently made a difference for the Fond du Lac Humane Society. The program brings together students in Moraine Park’s Manufacturing programs to do projects that have a positive influence on the community. Moraine Park President Bonnie Baerwald says the students helped with improvements to the kennels at the animal shelter in Fond du Lac. The kennels were rotted and not usable and they had leaky drain troughs. She says, “Several of these woman planned, designed, built and installed new troughs in this collaboration of community instruction. Five women really lead the project and once the troughs were manufactured the women installed them last month.” Those kennels are now being used to hold the dogs the Humane Society receives. Baerwald says, “So there are a total of 14 new kennels now at the Humane Society to hold more dogs.” The old kennels were so rotted they were being used to store blankets and supplies.
