Mumps Making A Return?

Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says mumps are making a return to Wisconsin, but haven’t hit the County yet. She says they are making local physicians and health care providers aware of the potential for mumps and they are seeing a lot more testing but no one has tested positive for mumps yet. She says they’ve found that anyone born in 1957 or before that seems to have immunity, but anyone after that needs two vaccinations. She says generally the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine is given before a child is one-year-old and then again before Kindergarten. She says if you’re unsure about your vaccination status the health department can check the Wisconsin Immunization Registry for you or even given you the vaccine if you need. She says to give them a call at (920) 929-3085.
