Name Released In Fatal FDL County Accident

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials have released the name of the 29-year-old Fond du Lac man killed in an accident on State Highway 44 in the Town of Rosendale Tuesday afternoon. Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says Nicholas Lee Ryan was going too fast for conditions on the snow-covered road even though he was going the speed limit. Ryan lost control and crossed over the center line hitting a semi-truck. The truck driver wasn’t injured. Ryan died at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt. It was the County’s eighth traffic death of the year. Last year the County had 22 traffic deaths. Olig says improved roads help, but the number of traffic deaths vary from year to year. There were 32 in 2003 and the following year that number dropped to 12. The average number of traffic deaths for the County over the past five years was 10.
