Name Released In Fatal Pedestrian Versus Train Accident

Update:

Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the 20-year-old Fond du Lac man hit and killed by a train in the Town of Lomira this week had recently moved to the area from out of state. Zarek Kniffen was on the railroad tracks Wednesday night when he was struck and killed by a Canadian National freight train. Sheriff Schmidt says they are still trying to determine why he was on the tracks. He says maybe he didn’t see the train or maybe it was a suicide, but they are still investigating. He says there is the possibility that Kniffen didn’t know the train was coming. Schmidt says he’s heard of people not hearing trains coming because they had ear buds in or having a mental issue that affects their perception. Scmidt says foul play is not suspected. The accident happened near State Highway 49 and Windhover Road.
