Natural Gas Leak In FDL

Both eastbound and westbound traffic on Johnson Street between Military and Macy in Fond du Lac had to be shut down when a public works crew hit a 4-inch gas main Friday morning. Assistant Fire Chief Todd Janquart says they were called to 180 Doty Street at 7:50 a.m. The DPW crew was working on a water main leak when they hit the natural gas main. Traffic on Johnson Street was closed down because it happened near the corner of Johnson and Doty. Three homes were evacuated as a precaution. Janquart says that meant evacuating ten people who lived in those homes and the DPW crew. No one was injured during the incident. Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue photo.
