New Charges For Beck Murder Suspect

New charges have been brought against the 61-year-old Kenosha man suspected of killing Berit Beck in 1990. Ten new charges were brought against Dennis Brantner in Fond du Lac County Court Friday stemming from a search of Brantner during the jail booking process last March. According to the criminal complaint deputies found a clear plastic baggie in one of his cowboy boots containing 54 pills. The pills included Oxycodone, Hydrocodone and prescription pills Brantner may have stolen from his brother Michael. In fact a Sheriff’s detective determined some of pills matched prescriptions Michael Brantner had and Dennis Brantner hasn’t been prescribed any prescription medications since 2013. During an interview in June Michael Brantner told detectives his brother may have had access to the pills last New Year’s Eve. He also told investigators he believed Dennis may have been planning to kill himself. Michael Brantner told detectives in the same interview his brother fled the state to Iowa in March of last year texting him that he was in a heap of trouble. A detective asked Michael Brantner what he though Dennis was referring to. Michael Brantner replied, “In my opinion I think he did it.” He told the detective he encouraged Dennis to come back to Wisconsin because otherwise he looked like a fugitive. Bond was set at $50,000 cash and Brantner has a preliminary hearing on October 15th. He remains in jail on a $1 million cash bond for the murder charge.
