New FDL K9 Unit Introduced

The Fond du Lac Police Department introduced its new K9 unit Tuesday. Chief Bill Lamb said a few words and then turned it over to Officer Kyle Hoefer a four-year veteran of the department. He says he applied at the department because of its history with K9s. He says he’s very lucky to get the opportunity so early in his career. He’s teamed with “Brüx” a 19-month-old German Shepard who was raring to go. Officer Hoefer says “Brüx” is trained for narcotics detection, tracking, doing criminal apprehension and to find missing persons. The two wrapped up their training last Friday and took their first patrol Tuesday afternoon. Hoefer says both of them were ready to serve the community. He says they went through all the training and were certified the first time on everything they needed to know.
