New Hires, Promotions Continue for FDL Sheriff’s Office

A year that’s been full of transition continues for the
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. The first seven months of 2019 have seen a
new Sheriff take over in January, and a number of retirements, promotions and
new hires. Last month, Nick Kahnke was promoted to Lieutenant after Mike Nolan
retired. Kahnke now serves as the Third Shift commander, and says the
transition to his new role has gone well – thanks to the staff he gets to work
with. “I have a good supporting cast,” Kahnke said. “The two night shift
supervisors, the night shift sergeants, have been in that position for a period
of time. They work really well together – they work well in really training and
mentoring some of the third shift guys, who tend to be younger in their
careers.” Kahnke says the majority of the new hires for the department are
assigned to third shift, and the sergeants have helped pass down their
knowledge to those new staff members. Kahnke joined the Fond du Lac County
Sheriff’s Office in 2013 after serving 11 years in Waupaca County.
