New Holstein Mayoral Primary Set For Feb 18

There’s going to be a primary election in New Holstein after all. The primary will take place Tuesday, Feb. 18  which will narrow the field of City of New Holstein mayoral candidates from three to two. That announcement was made by Mayor Dianne Reese at the most recent Common Council meeting.

It was  decided at an earlier meeting to not hold a primary due to cost, but the two challengers —Jeff Hebl and Mike Jacobson—circulated a petition in which 167 signatures were obtained requesting a primary. State statute requires a minimum of 141 signatures to request the primary.
