New Tornado Sirens Being Installed In Waupun

Three new tornado sirens are being installed in the City of Waupun this week. Waupun Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa says the primary function of the sirens is to alert residents about severe weather, but it is also a way of notifying the public about any type of natural or man-made disaster that requires taking cover or evacuating. The cost for the controllers, field equipment and installation will come to more than $62,500. The installation started Wednesday and the project is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
