NFDL Police Chief Cautions Residents About Phone Scam

North Fond du Lac Police Chief Darren Pautsch is warning residents about a scam targeting senior citizens. He says the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau says robo calls are made to senior citizens that sound like they are talking to a live person. The caller says they’ve qualified for a free medical alert system, the equipment has already been shipped all they have to do is pay $35 a month to maintain the service. Pautsch says then they ask for financial account information. He says it’s an effort to drain your bank accounts. He says two or three North Fond du Lac residents have called police to say they’ve gotten the calls, but fortunately no one in the village has fallen for the scam.
