NFDL Teacher The Leader Of The Band

The North Fond du Lac School District is losing a long-time middle school band and instrumental teacher to retirement. District Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says they are sad to see Michael Riese  put down his baton after 38 years with the district. Thousand of kids have had music classes with Riese. Sadoff says, “So that means every child since 1980 that has gone through the school district of North Fond du Lac that has played an instrument and has had him as a teacher, I’m guessing that’s close to 4,000 kids and that is not even counting all the other kids that he teaches music classes to.” Sadoff says Riese has had other involvement in the school district including serving as an assistant basketball coach. He says, “He was a very big proponent and supporter of many different programs and clubs in the school district of North Fond du Lac. He and his wife live in Plymouth; he has been trekking on Highway 23. He’s an amazing guy.” Sadoff says his own children are better people because they had Riese as a music teacher.
