Nineteen Graduate From MPTC Manufacturing Skills Academy

12-Oct-2014

Moraine Park Technical College is proud to graduate two more classes from the Manufacturing Skills Academy. Ten students graduated from the welding training and nine from the Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machinist training. In total, Moraine Park has had 115 students graduate from the Skills Academy since induction.

Moraine Park’s Manufacturing Skills Academy offers 15-week boot camp sessions in either welding or CNC training. They were designed to combat the shortage of skilled manufacturing workers in Wisconsin. Moraine Park partners with many local manufacturing employers including Mayville Engineering Company (MEC), Amerequip, Brenner Tank and John Crane.

Reggie Newson, secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, attended the ceremony and congratulated graduates as they received their certificates. Newson encouraged students to be ambassadors. “Be a thundering herd,” he stated. “Let your friends, family and children know about Moraine Park and the opportunities that are available.”
