No Funding For Hwy 23 Project

With a lawsuit delaying the Highway 23 expansion project from Fond du Lac to Plymouth, the State Department of Transportation has proposed delaying funding for an additional three years. That doesn’t sit well with 18th State Senate candidate Dan Feyen. He says people continue to get hurt and killed on the highway. He says the project has been delayed year after year. The DOT released the proposed biennial transportation budget incorporating the Governor’s directives. No funding is included in the budget for the Highway 23 project for the years 2017 through 2019. Feyen does say he likes the Governor’s proposal to include $65 million in additional funding for local road aid. Feyen, Senator Devin LeMahieu, and State Representatives Tyler Vorpagel and Jeremy Thiesfeldt released a statement Thursday saying they will advocate the Governor to restore funding for the project to the budget.
