Numbers Do Not Add Up For Current FDL Area CVB Offices

The president of the Fond du Lac Area Convention and Visitors Bureau says it makes more sense to sell their current building on South Pioneer Road and lease new office space. Craig Molitor says it is a wonderful building, but marketing tourism has changed since it opened about 15 years ago. He says that is reflected in how the number of visitors to their offices has dwindled over the years. He says at the beginning they were getting 700 visitors a month to the building, but these days the average is 24 out of town people a month. He says the nature of the business has also changed. He says they get more than 11,000 visitors a month to their website. Molitor says they could sell the building and use it to do more tourism marketing, which he thinks is the more responsible thing to do. Molitor believes their current offices will be a good location for another business. He says it is a dynamic neighborhood with the addition of a new Hampton Inn and the new Jackson Kahl insurance building.
