Octagon House Foreclosure

The historic Octagon House in Fond du Lac is in foreclosure. Fond du Lac County Judge Richard Nuss Wednesday ruled that the owner Marlene Hansen owes BMO Harris Bank over $80,000 from a loan she took out in 1999 and hadn’t paid her debt allowing BMO to foreclose on the loan. Hansen has owned the home with the unusual architecture for more than 40 years and gave tours of it. The Octagon House was built in 1856 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1991 the City of Fond du Lac designated it a City landmark.  A Go Fund Me page was started in November in an effort to save the historic home. (Photo from Octagon House Go Fund Me page).
