Officer Involved Sheboygan Shooting Being Investigated

Sheboygan Police fatally shot an armed robbery suspect late Sunday night. They got a call to the Union Tap in 1400 block of Union Avenue at 11:35 p.m. As police were approaching the tavern a suspect with a rifle appeared. The suspect was ordered to drop the rifle, but did not comply. Both officers fired at the suspect and the suspect died at the scene. Police says a 53-year-old man employed by the tavern was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee with gunshot wounds. That employee was reported to be in stable condition. Two employees and two patrons were in the bar at the time of the shooting. The two officers are a 32-year-old man with 10 years of experience as an officer and a 33-year-old man with 7 years of experience. The two officers are on administrative leave until an investigation into the shooting is completed. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting.
