Officers Involved In FDL Squad Crash Back On The Job

After reviewing a report from the State Patrol the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s office determined no criminal charges were warranted in a traffic crash involving two Fond du Lac City Police cars last November 1st. Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says the matter was handled administratively by their department and Officers Melissa Sprangers and Kristen Kachelmeier  recovered from their injuries and have returned to work. The two officers were responding to a call for emergency assistance from other officers when the crash occurred at the intersection of Macy and Western. The initial call involved two women who were fighting in the area of 9th and Main. Others watching the fight began advancing towards the officers who were trying to break it up.  A 19-year-old woman was arrested for obstructing and resisting, and disorderly conduct during the call.

Gee. Imagine that. A Police Officer goes through a red light, without due regard, injuring another. And "No Charges" are filed. If a citizen did that, they would be jailed! What 'other' legal exemptions to they enjoy?

sounds as if NO CITATIONS where issued!!! can maybe start with inattentive driving, these ladies could not SEE a squad, with flashing lights, maybe a siren?? one had a red light at intersection, could not see another car ?? are pedestrians safe crossing on a street in front of these TRAINED DRIVERS???

Has KFIZ asked to view the crash report from the State Patrol? What were the speeds of the vehicles and why isn't that part of the story?

"Handled administratively" what does that mean? If I have a crash in a work vehicle can my employer decide what happens to me if I violate the law? What is missing here? A witness commented that one vehicle was going extremely fast, what does the State Patrol report say?
