Oshkosh City Official Threatened By IRS Scam

Oshkosh Police are using a recording forwarded to them by a city official to remind residents about the IRS phone scam. That official received a voicemail in which the automated message threatened legal action for fraud committed against the IRS. The caller gave a phone number to call to take care of the debt owed the IRS. Caller ID identified the phone call as coming from 267-635-0082 in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Oshkosh Police say the best thing to do when you get that type of call is hang up. They say the IRS does not call and threaten lawsuits and would not request iTunes cards, cash cards or any other form of payment over the phone or by email.
