Oshkosh Man Sentenced To Federal Prison For Overdose Death

A 41-year-old Oshkosh man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for supplying an Appleton woman with the fentanyl and methamphetamine that led to her death in May of 2017.  The U.S. Justice Department says Anthony Chaplin had sold heroin to Joy Straeder on a number of occasions, but wasn’t aware that this time it contained an especially potent form of fentanyl. A medical examiner found the fentanyl and methamphetamine combination led to Straeder’s death. Following his release from prison Chaplin will be placed on extended supervision for five years.
