05-Nov-2019

Police in Oshkosh are investigating a series of robberies that happened in the residential area near the UW-Oshkosh campus.

Police say in a news release they are investigating two robberies – one that happened October 19th around 7:30 pm in the 1200 block of Kentucky Street, the other on October 29th just after 8:30 pm in the 400 block of Scott Avenue. Police are also investigating two attempted robberies – one that happened October 27th around 8:30 pm near the intersection of Cherry Street and Scott Avenue, and another in the 700 block of Cherry Street on November 2nd.

Police say the incidents that happened October 19th and November 2nd involved the victims messaging a stranger on a dating app and determining a spot to meet. Once the victims arrived, they were approached by several teenagers who proceeded to rob or attempt to rob them. Both victims were physically assaulted and reported minor injuries.

The incidents on October 27th and 29th involved victims that were walking alone in a residential area and were approached by several teenagers, who again proceeded to rob or attempt to rob them. Both victims in those cases were physically assaulted and reported minor injuries.

No weapons were involved in any of the incidents. The suspects are identified as a group of male, African-American teenagers.

Anyone with information is asked to call 236-5700 or Winnebago County Crime Stoppers at 920-231-8477.
