Pavement Buckling in Heat

A lot of vehicles are on the roads for Memorial Day weekend, but the hot weather could also slow down your travel time. The DOT warns drivers to stay alert for buckling in the pavement. Roads buckle when temperatures go from cool to very hot – causing pavement to expand and concrete slabs to push against each other. They say it’s hard to predict where and when it will happen. Drivers should be ready to move over for highway repair crews who are working on buckled pavement.
