Pay Raises for State Employees up for Approval Next Week

A special legislative committee is scheduled to vote on pay
raises for state employees next week. The panel of legislative leaders is
scheduled to meet on December 18^th to act on pay plans that Governor
Tony Evers’ administration sent for approval last month. Under the plan, state
workers are slated to receive a two-percent general wage increase in each of
the next two years. The Governor is also proposing that the minimum wage for
state employees be raised to $15 an hour starting in June. Democrats had been
calling on Republican leaders to set the meeting date so the raises can go into
effect next month as planned.
