Petri Praised While Chairing Final Subcommittee Hearing

Wisconsin Congressman Tom Petri received praise for his years of service on the House Transportation Committee Tuesday. Petri is the chairman of the Highways and Transit Subcommittee and was chairing the meeting when the unexpected tribute occurred. Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Schuster (R-PA) told the crowded room he’d gone to Petri for advice over the years. Subcommittee Ranking Member Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) echoed Chairman Shuster’s comments saying they were losing someone with a lot of knowledge. She said he earned the respect of Congress on both sides of the aisle. Tom Petri has served on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee since 1983, and has served in Congress since April 1979. Tuesday was his final hearing chairing the subcommittee. To see the YouTube video click here.
