Phony FDL Fire Rescue Facebook Page Causes Confusion

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue officials became aware of a copycat Facebook page that led to confusion about the standoff in the City Tuesday night. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says an assistant chief noticed the phony Facebook page and the department was already working with the City’s Information Services Department to get it taken down. Unfortunately information was posted on the copycat page about the standoff Tuesday night that led some to believe it was being posted by the real agency. He says lending to the confusion about the Facebook page is the unauthorized use of the department’s logo and a photo of the fire station. Fire Chief Peter O’Leary says their official Facebook page can be found at FDLFire and their Twitter site @fdlfire.
