Plane Lands Gear Up At FDL County Airport

A pilot from Ohio was able to walk away from a “gear up” landing and little damage to his plane at the Fond du Lac County Airport this week. Airport Manager John Wehner says the man was one of the many pilots in town for EAA AirVenture. He says Monday the man called the tower to say he was having some problems with his landing gear. He says they also refer to it as a “belly landing.” He says there was a malfunction that caused the landing gear to fold up. Wehner says a wrecker service, Whealon Towing and Service, was able to lift the plane up and its wheels came down. He says the airport was open within a half hour of the landing.
