Position Launching Point For Several FDL Schools Principals

This past week the Fond du Lac School Board approved the hiring of Kelly Barkovich-Smith as the new principal at Lakeshore Elementary School. She was one of five finalists and 48 applicants for the job. Barkovich-Smith had been a special education instructional coach with the district. District Superintendent Jim Sebert says they have had two others who started in the same position to become principals in the district. He says Katie Moder (MOW-dur) the principal at Chegwin Elementary and Amy Jahn the principal at Pier Elementary both started out as special education instructional coaches. He says the position provides a tremendous vehicle for gaining leadership experience. He says Barkovich-Smith will ensure that good things will continue to happen at Lakeshore Elementary.
