Project Grill Unveiling Friday, May 2nd

This year’s Project G.R.I.L.L. will team up students from nine area high schools with local manufacturers. Jim Cleveland of the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce says new this year to the program in Waupun High School and Agromatic. Waupun High School will team up with Mid-States Aluminum and Agromatic with Horace Mann High School. This year’s grills will be unveiled at the Festival Foods parking lot in Fond du Lac on Friday, May 2nd. The program is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and it’s free and open to the public. Proceeds from the brat fry will benefit the Project G.R.I.L.L. program. Cleveland says the grills are often sold to community groups and end up benefitting the schools further. Other partners include Campbellsport High School and Mercury Marine, Fond du Lac High School and JF Ahern Company, Laconia High School and Nemesis Metals, Lomira High School and Fives Giddings & Lewis, Mayville High School and MEC, Oakfield High School and Kondex Corporation, and Winnebago Lutheran Academy and Manowske Welding.

In the photo above: In 2012-13 Laconia High School was paired with Mercury Marine and the students were inspired to construct a grill within an engine block.  The team took the design process to the next level and those in attendance at the 2013 Project G.R.I.L.L. Unveiling were amazed with the finished product.
