Public Meeting On FDL County Highway V Project

Fond du Lac County and City of Fond du Lac officials will be hosting a public information meeting to present the preliminary engineering plan for improvements to County Highway V in the City. The project will begin just south of County Highway VV or Pioneer Road and extend north through the County Highway V/Fond du Lac Avenue/ National Avenue/Rienzi Road intersection. County Highway Commissioner Tom Janke says there will be options for the projects, which will affect right of way purchases for them. “There are a couple of concepts out there that we are looking at, certainly some have impacts on various properties. Obviously you have the Knights of Columbus that’s there, we have already had some discussions with them on one of the proposals that is out there that would have more impacts on them.” Janke said. Roundabouts are planned at the County Highway V and Pioneer Road intersection and the four-way intersection. Janke says it will be a much improved area when it is completed.  “It will be a nice new highway with much improved safety, much improved pedestrian accommodations, which lack out there right now and there is a number of people that utilize that corridor for that. It’s definitely a project that has been on the ticket for a long time. It needs to be done.” The public can attend the meeting next Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Expo Center to learn more about the projects. There will be a brief presentation at 5:15.
