Randall Takes Over as Lieutenant of Detectives for FDL Sheriff’s Office

Chris Randall is the new Lieutenant of Detectives for the
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. Randall replaces Cameron McGee who retired
last week after 31 years of service to the department. Randall started as a
correctional deputy in 2005, before moving to the road as a patrol deputy in
2008. He says his move to the detective bureau and involvement with the Lake
Winnebago MEG Unit starting in 2013 started his interest in investigations. “It was fascinating the amount of things you learn and
really understand how society works, the dark world. It was very intriguing and
my passion for investigating kind of exploded,” Randall said. He says his new role as Lieutenant will put him into more of an
administrative role, but he still anticipates working in the field, as well.
When it comes to being in charge of the
bureau, Randall says its important to be supportive of the detectives. “Our
group of guys in the detective bureau are very, very passionate about what they
do. They’re invested. So you have to really be there to support them because
they’re investigating some pretty challenging things. So you really, really
have to be there and help them whatever way you can because of the stress that
goes on with these investigations.” Randall says he want to establish stronger
relationships with some of the counselors in the area to help detectives deal
with the stresses of the job.
As Randall was promoted to Lieutenant, Ryan
Flood was hired as a new detective to take his place in the bureau.
