Rasmussen Receives 265-year Sentence in Child Sex Assault Case

A Fond du Lac man convicted on 44 counts of sexual assault of
children and drug charges has been sentenced. Judge Robert Wirtz sentenced
James Rasmussen Friday to 203 years in prison and an additional 62 years of
extended supervision, making for a total sentence of 265 years. Rasmussen was
convicted on the sexual assault counts and charges of delivering drugs to
children in November after a multi-week jury trial. Wirtz called Rasmussen’s behavior
“monstrous, narcissistic and predatory” at sentencing and said Rasmussen was a
denier and “categorically remorseless”. District Attorney Eric Toney said in a
statement “while no amount of
prison time can change the trauma that the children in this case endured
because of Rasmussen’s actions, it is because of the children’s courage to
report what happened that allowed for Rasmussen to be held accountable for his
actions. Because of their bravery, the children in our community will be better
protected. I also hope the court’s sentence serves as a clear message to what
happens to those that engage in this monstrous behavior. ” Toney also
credits the investigative team in the case for their work – including Fond du

Davis.
