Reeseville Woman Attacked By Pit Bull

Dodge County Sheriff’s officials say a 53-year-old Reeseville woman suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries when she was attacked by a pit bull while walking her dog late Thursday morning. Kathy Ackley was taken to Beaver Dam Community Hospital. The attack happened at 11:47 a.m. as she was walking her Dachshund on North Main Street in the village. The pit bull escaped from a fenced in back yard and ran across the street attacking the victim. Ackley suffered numerous puncture wounds during the attack.  The Dachshund also suffered puncture wounds and lacerations requiring immediate veterinary care. A citizen was driving by and was able to restrain the pit bull on the ground while waiting for emergency responders.  The pit bull died while being restrained. It is believed Ackley would have suffered more severe injuries if the pit bull had not been restrained. Elsia Acevedo of Reeseville owned the pit bull.
