Renewed Call For Study Of Impacts Of Wind Turbines On Human Health

Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel is renewing his call for the state to do a study on the human health impacts of wind turbines. The County Board passed a resolution in August of 2013 asking for the study from the state. Buechel says the state included money in the state budget for a study then took it out. He says the $250,000 for a study wouldn’t have been enough to do the study right. Buechel says he recently sent a letter to state legislators asking them to restore funding to do the study. He included a copy of the 2013 Fond du Lac County resolution. He says County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller has the power to declare the wind turbines a human health hazard, but there isn’t enough evidence to support that and there would be an expensive legal battle if the County Board enforced that. The County’s Board of Health is scheduled to meet at 6:30 tonight and discuss the 2013 resolution asking for a study. Only County residents will be able to speak during the public comment portion of the meeting at the City-County Government Center in Fond du Lac.
