Replacement Of FDL Assistant Fire Chief Detailed

du Lac Fire and Rescue Chief Peter O’Leary recently updated the Police and Fire
Commission on the procedures they will follow to replace an assistant chief.
Assistant Chief Steve Beer is leaving next month to become the Fire Chief for Hutchinson, Kansas.
Chief O’Leary says they’ve already posted for the position. He says applicants
have until the end of the month to get in their applications and resumes in. He
says they will be reviewed after that. He says in May they will have a panel of
fire chiefs assess the candidates. He says they will have an all-day assessment
center on May 9th, with four fire chiefs from outside the area coming in to do
the assessments. O’Leary says following that he will interview the candidates
and put together an interim eligibility list that will be taken to the Police
and Fire Commission for approval.
