Report Released On Drunken Driving Arrest Of Former Sheboygan Mayor

The Kiel Police Department Friday released its report on the drunk driving arrest last weekend of former Sheboygan Mayor Bob Ryan.  Ryan, an admitted alcoholic, was arrested late last Sunday night in the city of Kiel and cited for first offense drunk driving.  According to the report, an officer spotted Ryan’s car making a wide turn and weaving in its lane of traffic.  A computer check also determined Ryan’s vehicle registration had expired.  He was then stopped and arrested.  He told officers he had been to three Kiel area taverns and had 3 or 4 beers between 6 p.m. and shortly before midnight when he was stopped.  Ryan said he was on his way to his home at Cedar Lake.  Ryan was then handcuffed and taken to the Manitowoc County Jail where he spent the mandatory 12 hours.  He is scheduled to appear in Kiel Municipal Court on April 23rd.  It was just 3 weeks ago that Ryan was fined a total of $770 on two disorderly conduct charges which stemmed from a drunken binge in Elkhart Lake in 2011 which led to his recall and eventual ouster as mayor.
