Retlaw Hotel Closes Doors

One
of Fond du Lac’s
historic buildings sits quiet today.  The
historic Retlaw Plaza Hotel closed its doors on Wednesday afternoon after the
annual Empty Bowls fundraiser.  The
property has had issues over the past few years.  Earlier this fall, a Fond
du Lac
County judge
appointed a Milwaukee
attorney the receiver over assets of the Retlaw Hotel or specifically North
Main Hospitality.  The
closing leaves guests with rooms booked to find new accommodations.  That includes two large groups from Minnesota who booked 60
to 70 rooms for an ice skating event in January.  The Retlaw Plaza Hotel opened in the 1920s.
Amy Hansen of the Downtown Fond du Lac
Partnership will stop by KFIZ this morning at 9:10am to discuss what the
closing means for the downtown area.
