Retlaw Hotel Goes Up For Sale During Second Online Auction

For the second time the Retlaw Hotel will be going up for auction online. The historic hotel in downtown Fond du Lac is currently in receivership. Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership Executive Director Amy Hansen says she’s hoping something good will come out of it. She says they have been working with a potential developer that’s interested in maintaining it as a hotel, which she feels would be the best use for the Retlaw. Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation President Steve Jenkins says there is a interested developer and a possible $20 million project, but that depends on what that developer and other interested bidders see when they get a chance to look at the hotel. The auction is June 27th through the 29th. Bidders have to be pre-qualified and make a $10,000 deposit. The minimum bid starts at $150,000. Jenkins says they hope by the first or second week of next month a determination will be made on who the buyer is.
