Ripon Barn Fire Caused By Embers From Controlled Burn

Fire damaged a barn in rural Ripon Monday. Ripon Area Fire District Chief Tim Saul says they were dispatched to the fire on County Highway E at 10:41 that morning. He says a controlled burn was held in the area a couple of days before and winds stirred up and rekindled the embers and blew them on top of the barn’s roof. He says before they arrived there was an effort to put the fire out. He says a person climbed up a ladder with a garden hose, but it wasn’t enough to extinguish the fire. He says firefighters were able to save the shops connected to the barn. Ripon firefighters got mutual aid from City of Fond du Lac, Brandon-Fairwater, and Markesan Fire Departments.
