Ripon Man Sentenced For Deer Thrill Kills

The 19-year-old Ripon man who confessed to the “thrill killing” of 15 deer in Green Lake County has been sentenced to six months in jail. Grant Boese pled no contest to six charges of deer hunting without a license. As part of a plea deal Green Lake County prosecutors dropped 122 related misdemeanors and citations. Boese will also spend three years on probation, and lose his hunting privileges for 12 years. Boese shot and killed 11 deer while sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle last November near Princeton. Two others were involved. Eighteen-year-old Steve Steger of Princeton is charged with 74 misdemeanors and civil citations. He returns to court September 14th for a status conference. A third person was charged in a high-speed chase with officers following the incident. The car ended up getting stuck in a marsh.
