RMC Uses Grant To Purchase Bicycle Helmets

Thanks to a grant the Ripon Medical Center Emergency Department is distributing 100 bicycle helmets to area children. The Fox Valley Regional Traumatic Advisory Committee awarded the grant for the purchase of the helmets. Head injuries are the leading cause of death and disability in bicycling accidents. Ripon Medical Center Emergency Department Medical Director Michael Combs says they see firsthand children in their emergency department that have been involved in bicycle-related accidents who were not wearing helmets. He says the injury prevention initiative is important to the Ripon Medical Center.
