Road Work on Highway 23 West of FDL Begins Monday

Road work on Highway 23 west of Fond du Lac is set to
begin next week after receiving final approval from Governor Tony Evers. The
Governor signed the $3.4 million contract, which includes improvements to just
under two miles of Highway 23 from Rolling Meadows Drive in Fond du Lac to
Townline Road in the Town of Lamartine.

Starting Monday (September 9th), workers will
be resurfacing the highway, adding a left turn lane at the intersection of
Highway 23 and Esterbrook Road, and adding slotted left turn lanes at the
intersection with Rolling Meadows Drive (County VVV). Traffic signal upgrades
will also be made at the intersection with Rolling Meadows Drive.

Highway 23 will be closed during the project, with a detour
in place using Interstate 41 and Highway 26. Access for local residents and
emergency vehicles will be maintained during the closure. The Department of Transportation
does note that local traffic may also find shorter routes using the local road
system.

The project is set to finish by late November.
