Ron Harvey Tribute Orchestra Performing At Buttermilk Creek Park Tonight

A reenactment of the Fond du Lac-based Ron Harvey Orchestra, one of the most popular dance bands in Wisconsin in the 1950s and 1960s, will take the stage at the Music Under the Stars series at Buttermilk Creek Park in Fond du Lac tonight. The tribute orchestra formed and directed by local retired music teacher Bob Shirek, will perform musical selections from the original Ron Harvey library of music. “It has been loaned to us by members of Ron’s family along with other materials used by him,” Shirek said. “The songs are hit tunes of the Big Band Era, from the 1930s and into the 1970s. The Ron Harvey 10-piece band was professional in every way from their performance ability and stylish red jackets to Ron’s emcee expertise. He was a popular radio personality with KFIZ and WFON. The free concert is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Food can be purchased starting at 6:30. Brats, burgers, hotdogs, popcorn, root beer floats and more are available. Attendees need to bring their own chairs. In case of rain, the concert will be held the next night, same time and location.
