Salute The Troops Presents A Veterans Mental Health Symposium
Salute the Troops of Fond du Lac will be hosting a Veterans Mental Health Symposium at the Marian University Stayer Center on Friday, October 11th. Salute the Troops Executive Director Dan Manning says they wanted to bring some services available to the County’s veteran a little closer to home. He says often veterans have to go to Appleton and Milwaukee to get those services. It begins with registration at 8 a.m. and the event starts at 9 a.m. with Dr. Bert Berger, the Director of Mental Health for the Milwaukee VA Medical Center, speaking. Manning says there will be a number of break-out sessions throughout the day. He says that will include, but won’t be limited to alcohol and drug abuse, suicide prevention, taking care of family when soldiers are employed, PTSD, traumatic brain injuries and a host of other issues. He says they are asking for pre-registration, which you can do at their website. More information about the symposium and costs is also available there. Manning says the symposium may be of interest to law enforcement, clergy and others as well.
