Salvation Army And Fives G & L Team Up For Food Drive For Hurricane Victims

The Fond du Lac Salvation Army and Fives Giddings & Lewis is teaming up to collect non-perishable food and personal hygiene items for hurricane victims. It’s similar to the 2005 effort the two did for Hurricane Katrina victims and they are hoping to surpass the 275,000 food boxes that were donated during that effort 12 years ago. Ron Jacobson is the Social Services Director for the Salvation Army. He says like that effort this one was also suggested by Gary Sternhagen of G & L. A lot of items will be accepted, but there are a few that won’t. That includes beverages and water, clothing, chocolate or similar candy, bread, flour and sugar. An Osborn and Son Trucking semi will be parked in the Fives Gidding & Lewis parking lot at Johnson and Macy next weekend. It will be there Thursday and Friday, September 21st and 22nd from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, September 23rd and 24th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers will take donated items at that time.
