Scam Advice

The Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection for the state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection cautions residents about two scams you are more likely to see in the upcoming months. Michelle Reinen says vacation packages and home improvements are something scammers attack with gusto. She recommends doing your research if you are planning a vacation and finding out what is included in so-called all-inclusive vacation packages. She says the same type of careful approach should be taken when it comes to home improvements. For instance if you are having your roof repaired you should know what type of shingle you are getting, if there is a warranty and whether the warranty just covers the shingle or the labor too. Other tips to avoid fraud are available at the DATCP website.
