School Choice Group Asks FDL School District For Student Data

Fond du Lac Schools Superintendent Jim Sebert (pictured) says the school district was one of those across the state to receive an open records request from a school choice group. He says School Choice Wisconsin submitted the request on February 9th. He says they wanted directory data that the district is required to provide unless parents opted out of the particular information at the beginning of the school year. He says in particular it was for names, addresses, telephone numbers, grade levels and school last attended. He says they were particularly interested in addresses and grade levels, which will probably used to market school choice via a mailing on school choice and voucher opportunities. Sebert says School Choice Wisconsin officials promised to respect that data they requested and won’t use it for commercial purposes.
