Section of Highway 33 In Dodge County Closed, Drivers Reminded to Use Detour Route

Drivers who use Highway 33 in Dodge County are being
asked to find an alternate route around construction at the intersection with
County Highway P. The construction project began Monday and will replace the
existing intersection with a roundabout to reduce the frequency of severe
crashes at the intersection. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says a number of
people, however, are not paying attention to the “Road Closed” signs and
following the detour. In a Facebook post this (Tuesday) morning, the department
said they had stopped 28 drivers between 5 and 8 AM who were driving in the
construction zone. The post reminds everyone a citation for a “Failure to Obey
Sign” is a $175.30 fine and three points against your license. The posted
detour route around the closure uses Highway 67, Highway 28 and Interstate 41.
The project is scheduled to be finished by July 3rd.
