Semi Fire Put Out Quickly

Fond du Lac firefighters responded to a tractor-trailer fire on the Northbound off ramp of Highway 41 at Johnson Street yesterday afternoon. The fire was in the rear of a car carrier, which was fully loaded with cars. The fire was quickly extinguished and none of the vehicles were damaged. Fire Chief Peter O’Leary says the fire appears to have been a result of rear brakes on the trailer locking up, which in turn ignited two rear tires.  There were no injuries. The ramp remained closed until a local towing company could arrive on scene to make emergency repairs to the trailer.  The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene. The time of the fire call was 2:30 p.m. Photo courtesy Fond du Lac Fire Department.
