Senator Feyen On Ending State Treasurers Office

The sponsor of a bill that would do away with the State Treasurer’s Office says he’s glad to see it passed in both the State Senate and Assembly. State Senator Dan Feyen says it sets up a referendum that goes before voters in April of next year. He says it will be up to voters whether they want to keep an office that does nothing. He says eliminating the office will save the state some money. He says it will save about $300,000 every two years. He says it isn’t a ton of money, but he says any time we can save some money at the state level we should be serious about doing it. If voters approve eliminating the office it would be closed on December 31st of 2018.
